This year our three conferences were held in Feilding, Auckland and Christchurch, and we are super impressed by the amount of enthusiasm and commitment to road safety that was shown by those who came!
Hundreds of students from all over New Zealand came to take on three jam-packed days consisting of team challenges, road safety talks, inventive disco costumes and food (lots and lots of food).
This year’s team challenge was to create a 2-minute video resource for SADD groups to use nationwide. Topics were either a new SADD activity, an information resource or a SADD Campaign. With less than 24 hours to plan, film and edit, the pressure was on! Not to mention the final morning when all teams had to present their work to not only other students but our community partners too.
We were also lucky to have the support of our local community partners such as the NZ Police, Fire and Emergency NZ, ex-SADD students, and even a local teacher to help as facilitators, and to hear from a number of other partners who presented to our young student leaders, such as the AA Driving School, the AA Comms team, Brake, and RYDA.
We're excited to soon be using these videos as resources for other SADD students. So keep an eye out!
