Simon has been associated with Kaitiaki o Ara since he joined the NZAA in 2012.
Originally, Simon was the Secretary to the Board. In 2022 his AA role changed to Chief Policy & Advocacy Officer and he became one of the Kaitiaki o Ara/SADD Trustees which means he gets a chance to become more involved in the discussions on our programme, funding, and accountability.
As one of the representatives of the NZAA on the Board, Simon has a responsibility to monitor the funds that the AA provides to Kaitiaki o Ara.
Previously, he has held roles in policy in the public and private sectors with a focus on the transport and tourism sectors. Simon is also the National Manager of Policy & Research at the NZAA which is focused on delivering high-quality research in transport safety, a role which overlaps well with his involvement in SADD.
Outside of work Simon is a regular commuter cyclist in Wellington, and has mentored two daughters through learning to drive – which helps keep the issues raised at the Board table real.
