How to get to SADD Conference

Have you registered for Kaitiaki o Ara/SADD conference but not quite sure how you are going to get there? We’ve put together some options to help you out with your planning. If you find yourself a bit stuck or have any questions, please feel free to contact our friendly team for some guidance.

Dunedin conference is being held at John McGlashan College, Maori Hill, Dunedin

Coming from the north? Intercity Bus has a great service that runs from Christchurch. It goes through most main towns along State Highway 1 (including Ashburton, Timaru and Oamaru) and you can also book stops near other towns such as the Waimate turn off. The bus that departs Christchurch at 7.45am on Saturday 13th April is a great option, it gets to Dunedin at 1.50pm and you can also select a pick up option when you register for conference and our team will arrange picking you up from the bus stop and taking you directly to the venue. The 1.15pm departure returning to Christchurch is the best option to book to get home on the 15th – again if you would like to be dropped off at the bus stop by our team you can select this when you register or if you have already registered just let us know and we can add you to the list.

If you’re coming from Southland towns, the Intercity also runs from Invercargill departing at 8.25am and hitting lots of towns on the way up. The 2.30pm departure from Dunedin is a great option for getting home too. Central Otago also have an option departing Queenstown at 7.45am and passing through Cromwell, Alex, Roxburgh and Lawrence. There is a 2.30pm departure on the 15th too which is a perfect option.

Dunedin has a domestic airport so flying is also an option. If you would like to fly to Dunedin, we suggest booking flights on the 13th that land in Dunedin by 1pm and depart on the 15th after 2pm. Check out the options here www.airnewzealand.co.nz

Auckland conference is being held at Kings College, which is in the Auckland surburb of Otahuhu.

Intercity has great bus route options from many Bay of Plenty, Waikato and Northland towns. We recommend selecting the Manukau City stop (Manukau Bus Interchange, Putney Way) or the Sky City Bus Terminal. We can arrange a pick up/drop off from these bus stops either side of our conference - you will just need to select the option when you register or let our team know so we can add you to the list.

If you choose to fly to Auckland we can also arrange transfers from/to the airport. We recommend booking flights that land by 1.45pm on the 22nd and depart after 1.30pm on the 24th.

Wellington Conference is being held at Silverstream Retreat, which is around 30 mins drive from Wellington CBD. Please note this is a change from our previous stated location of St Patricks College. The new venue is 3 mins down the road and all dates etc remain the same.

Intercity bus has a bus that travels from Napier through many towns including Hastings, Dannevirke, Palmerston North, Levin and Paraparaumu before getting to Wellington. The Wellington Central stop is at the Railway station and we can arrange a pick up service from here to take you to the venue.

Another option to get to Silverstream from Wellington city is by train, Hutt Valley Line (HVL) train to Silverstream. We recommend the 1.05pm service to Silverstream. We can arrange for someone to collect you from the train station if you need this - please contact us if this is the case for you.

If you are planning to fly in to Wellington, the easiest way to then get to the venue is by taking the Airport Flyer bus to Wellington Station and either select a pick up when registering or jump on the train as mentioned above. You can see details for the Airport Flyer bus here We would recommend booking flights that arrive in Wellington before midday as that would allow time to get the bus then train.
