Hi, my name is Jordan Kington, and I am excited to be your Kaitiaki o Ara/SADD Deputy Youth Representative for 2024.
I have been involved in SADD for a number of years throughout high school, and I am excited to have the opportunity to help shape and direct SADD as a youth organisation at a higher level. This year and next, I am committed to representing you, as the students doing the legwork, through SADD groups in your schools and communities.
Until very recently (2022-23), I was a National Leader as well as a SADD group leader in my high school, so I have a good idea of what it’s like.
The majority of my life was spent in Gore and Lumsden down in Southland. I am currently in my first year at the University of Canterbury, studying Law and Accounting. When I’m not busy studying, I am often found reading, playing musical instruments, and enjoying nature.
Tayla and I hope to achieve several things this year. This will include working to create a more accessible streamlined way for different SADD student leaders to interact and work together - such as regular communication between ourselves and National and Regional leaders. We also plan to share more about our role with you guys through SADD social media and blog.
There are a few larger projects in mind which could really expand the horizons of Kaitiaki o Ara/SADD, so look out for other exciting developments as they come.
