Roger Venn joined the AA in May 2016 and currently leads both the Government Contracts and Driver Training Divisions, acting as the AA’s media voice on driver training, driver/rider safety and associated issues.
His accountancy grounding in the UK with organisations including Tarmac and Rolls Royce Aerospace has been supplemented over the last 20 years in NZ by more generalist roles with Red Bull and then the 2017 World Masters Games.
He is a passionate driver, cyclist and motorcyclist and a strong advocate for road safety and etiquette, increased driving skills, knowledge and roadcraft. He has also contributed to various initiatives in the road safety space including
The MoT Road Safety Strategy – “Vehicles as a Workplace Reference Group”, the Motorcycle Safety Advisory Council (MSAC) “urban riding” review panel member and recently on the NZTA “Road Code Futures Workshop” panel. Roger was instrumental in launching the AA’s Senior Driver programme, launched the AA’s first foray into motorcycle training and is currently engaged with developing the AA’s revised learn to drive programme.
He has been a SADD trustee since 2016 and is also involved in governance in the education sector
