Introducing Bobbi

We are very excited to introduce you all to our new staff member who has joined SADD/Kaitiaki o Ara in the last month! This means that our Delivery Team now has four people whose job is to go out and support rangatahi making a difference in their schools and communities, how good! Let’s get to know Bobbi.

Kia ora Bobbi, so awesome to have you on board as our new Lower North Island Delivery Lead! Tell us a little about yourself?

Tēna koutou,

Ko Bobbi tōku ingoa, no Taranaki ahau engari kei te noho au ki Whanganui ināianei.

I have a passion for te reo māori, my dream is to speak fluently and keep our reo alive and thriving. I love learning and trying new things, my latest being karate. I never realised how hardcore karate is haha. I tend to enjoy using the more creative side of my brain, I loved art at school especially painting! I am a musician. I play guitar, saxophone, and sing. I also love sports, you’ll find me playing football most weekends but I also do a bit of archery and hockey as well.  I have a background in retail. Specifically working as an optical consultant for a few different optometrists in both Wellington and New Plymouth. I then carried on to a few different retail management roles.

What excites you about working with SADD?
It’s an opportunity for rangatahi to develop leadership skills and have their voice heard, seeing them grow is exciting. I can’t wait to meet, connect and build relationships with other like-minded people along the way!

What does Road Safety mean to you?
Road safety means looking out for others in making the right decisions on our roads. Most of us are using a road daily, road safety isn’t just about keeping ourselves safe but keeping our community safe by making the right choices.

You are stuck on a deserted island, what three things do you take with you?
Guitar, Pocket Knife, Snacks, I’m sure there are probably wiser options I could have chosen but these are the first that come to mind haha.

Where is your favourite place to go on holiday and why?
Canada, I haven’t actually been there before but I really want to! I want to go snowboarding there and go on some epic hikes by some bright blue lakes in British Colombia.

We can’t wait for you all to get to know Bobbi more as she settles into her new role! We know that she is going to do an awesome job :)
