Level 1, lets have some fun!

We made it! New Zealand has officially reached Alert Level 1. We can put most Covid-19 lockdown restrictions behind us and regain a sense of normality. Our country as a whole has battled through this strange and challenging period together and now, we get to reap the rewards (while remaining careful and considerate of course!) So what does level 1 mean for SADD?

Level 1 for SADD means we can return to business as usual. Our team can get back into our offices and you may even see us out and about again (what a novelty!) As always, we will let our students lead the way, but we are keen, ready and excited to get back out making school visits, running workshops, helping you plan and seeing your activities come to life. We understand that this year so far has not been what many students expected and that might have brought with it a bit of extra stress and pressure when it comes to schoolwork and extracurricular activities. We want you to know that even if you haven’t managed to get much done with SADD so far this year, it’s not too late to get going- at a pace that suits you. We have a range of new and existing resources ready to support you with your efforts and help you make sense of your goals. Here’s a few things you can expect to see from SADD over the next few weeks as we return to “normal” programming:

1)      Visits and workshops

Our delivery team is ready to get cracking! Over the remainder of term 3 our Programme Delivery Leads may come out to you with some options to connect. We’re starting to plan out where we can travel to at the beginning of term 3 to run workshops and events, but we also have some availability to catch up with you this term too. If you’re keen to connect with our team to get some guidance with your planning, share what you’re up please get in touch! It doesn’t have to be an in-person catch up either just because we now can– we’re always down for an email, call or zoom too.

2)      ‘Get ready, go!’ Masterclass

We’ve created a brand-new digital workshop to help get schools started with the SADD programme. This masterclass will be ready within the next couple of weeks and is the perfect activity for new groups or anyone who wants a refresher on how to get their SADD group off the ground. It is designed to be run whenever and wherever you like, all you will need to do id download the workshop and get a few group members together to take part – easy! Keep an eye out on our social media pages for when this is live.

For those of you who have been around a while – we have more masterclasses in the works that will focus on strengthening your connections and thinking outside the box, so if this is more your jam then watch this space!

3)      Raise your Voice, Tell your Story

We’ve added a new activity guide to our website called Raise your Voice – Tell your story. This is an activity that encourages you to engage in some form of storytelling and discussion, and then to share it with your school community. It is an awesome activity as it is super flexible and allows you to be as creative as you like. Are you arty? Create a cool piece that represents a road safety issue or tip and share it with your school. Are you more of a talker? Write a speech and deliver it to your classmates. The options are endless! We’ve provided loads of ideas and guidance to get you started – check it out here

Whatever you choose to do this term make sure you share it with us! We love hearing your fresh ideas, helping you turn plans into action and seeing all of your awesome creativity. We’re so excited to get back into it and see what we can all achieve together. Lets go!
