A Big Thanks!

We all know it’s that time of year when people are moving on from school and off into the big wide world, it is an exciting and sometimes scary time. We thought that it would be a great opportunity to say a big thank you to our National Leaders that are finishing up their time with us.

These leaders have served the last 2 years for the National Leadership Programme, and we say served because they have given up their time, again and again to make a difference in the road safety space!  So thanks so much team, you’ve been amazing and we are really proud of the work you have put in, and your willingness to step up and get involved.

Some of the things our Year 13 National Leaders have been involved with over the last two years are:

  • 6 National Leadership workshops all around NZ

  • Heaps of activities run in schools

  • Media articles and TV interviews

  • Working on the Driver Education Package

  • Filming lots of videos for the website

  • Social Media takeovers

  • Group discussions on best practice

  • Refreshed the descriptions of our 6 principles

  • Created a Community Collaborations guide for schools

Our National Leadership programme is a really important part of SADD. Not only is it all about developing young leaders, but it also ensures that the programme remains student-led. We rely on our National Leaders to help shape the future of SADD.

My highlight with SADD is working with people my age who have the same passion. It’s awesome to get everyone in the same boat, come together to share and create new ideas.

The highlight of my time in SADD and the NLP has been being able to meet heaps of like-minded people and make new friends! Being able to learn some new skills and ways to make a positive impact on my local community has been huge for me!
— Caleb
My absolute highlight through being involved with SADD was the opportunity to speak on the AM show during road safety week. It was incredible to be able to represent our organisation - I loved it! I also loved meeting the other NLPs, it was another awesome part of being involved by being able to make new friends.

And remember if you are heading into year 12 next year, think about applying for NLP. Applications will open in term 1 2020.
